Calling all 80s kids: We need your help!

Tipperary Museum of Hidden History announces, “we need your help”.

Tipperary Museum are planning an 80s themed exhibition and they need the people of Tipperary to help them out.  They will be reflecting on the 80s through fashion, music, news, sports and entertainment. The endless glitz and glamour of Dynasty, the Rubik Cube, Atari and Sunday evenings watching Clonmel native and cultural celebrity, Vincent Hanley presenting on MT USA.

The Museum’s Curator, Marie McMahon is extremely “excited” about this exhibition and is looking for help to locate images of Vincent Hanley and memorabilia related to the high-profile presenter. Marie is looking for “photographs from Vincent Hanley’s school days, Vincent with friends, local community events, and any memorabilia you might have. It’s an ideal opportunity to celebrate one of Ireland’s significant celebrities and cultural figures, Vincent Hanley and to get involved, so get in touch with us, we can’t wait to see what you will uncover”.

In addition to the tribute to Vincent Hanley, Marie and the museum team will be transforming the museums gallery into an 80s themed space and is looking for “vintage material which screams the 1980s retro, board games, roller skates, rubix cube, toys, badges, music albums, collections of fancy & smelly papers , classic stories and 1980s clothing; Punk, Mod, Rock and the Romantics and anything you think would look great in our themed spaces”.

The exhibition is in collaboration with the Clonmel Junction Arts Festival 2025.
