Our 2022 Open Call invites writers to choose an artefact from the Tipperary Museum of Hidden History to spark a story, a poem, or a monologue.
The theme for Clonmel Junction Arts Festival 2022 is Hidden Histories. Our 2022 Open Call invites writers to choose an artefact from the Tipperary Museum of Hidden History to spark a story, a poem,or a monologue. We’ll be inviting a selection of writers to read their piece at a special ‘Hidden Histories’ event at our new festival venue, Clonmel Junction Dome, on Saturday 9th July.
Terms and conditions:
The form can be a poem, a monologue or a short story (max. 2,000 words). The entry must be a new piece of writing, composed in response to this Open Call. The entry must be related to an artefact on display in the Tipperary Museum of Hidden History in Clonmel. The application process asks you to send a photo of the artefact from the collection that you are basing your piece on, and we would ask you to visit the museum in person to select your piece. Writers selected to read their pieces during Clonmel Junction Arts Festival must be available on Saturday 9th July.
All writers chosen will be given a stipend of €75 for their time. Neither the festival nor the museum will be responsible for any costs incurred in writing or performing the piece, including transport and accommodation. The ‘Hidden Histories’ event may be recorded for digital distribution, for archive and for marketing purposes. The submissions will be selected by an external assessment panel.
