Want to dance as part of a theatre event this summer?

Clonmel Junction Arts Festival are casting for a new show as part of the 2023 festival. 

Hucklebuck (named after the iconic dance)is a part immersive theatre experience set to perform as part of Clonmel Junction Arts Festival's 2023 season. The show will transport audiences back to 1960s Ireland when showbands ruled the dance hall circuit. While emigration, catholic morals and political instability rage outside, young people found a release inside dance halls all around Ireland. Audiences will watch boy meets girl in a world where traditional values were slowly beginning to bend. The show will have a full live band, a chorus of dancers and two actors at its core.

Successful applicants will rehearse evenings and weekends before an agreed production week schedule and then performing during the July festival. 

Dance rehearsals to begin w/c May 29th 

Technical rehearsals to begin June 24th 

Performances June 29th -July 2nd & July 6th -July 9th (All evening shows)

Dance Style: Modern version of 60s Swing with partner work. High level dance experience preferable. Although mainly dancing, performers will also be expected to act in character as the nature of the show is immersive. 

Playing age: 18 - 30 years old (must be 18+ to apply) The age range reflects the theme of the theatre piece.

Fee: Performers will be paid an honorarium fee for their work.
