This is Down the Rabbit Hole’s sixth production and first entirely original piece. After a highly successful Junction performance with their last play “TWO” by Jim Cartwright, DTRH will now debut their new comedy in one act, The Estate, written and performed by Amy Hill and James Whelan.
Amy Hill founded DTRH in 2009. She has an honours degree in Performing Arts from the D.I.T. Conservatory of Music and Drama, a Masters in Creative Arts Therapies from NUI Maynooth, and an honours degree in Psychotherapy from C.I.T. She worked as a professional actress for many years, appearing in numerous stage productions and TV/film, most notably RTE’s The Clinic and Michael Lavelle’s critically acclaimed film Out of the Blue. Amy toured with TEAM theatre Co., as well as training with the Corn Exchange Co., and Barnstorm Theatre Co.
James Whelan has been acting in Clonmel and the South Tipperary region since his mid-teens. In 2011, James joined the newly-formed Down the Rabbit Hole theatre group, and has worked with Amy Hill on numerous productions such as Woody Allen’s Death, Willy Russell’s Stags and Hens, followed by Murder at Checkmate Manor and Other Voices.
TWO by Jim Cartwright was the first two-person production from Down the Rabbit Hole. The play received critical acclaim in many venues around the south east for two years. This positive experience spurred Amy and James to venture into the creative world of producing their own original material. The pair are proud to bring “The Estate” to Clonmel Junction Arts Festival, the first of many exciting new plays to come from DTRH.
