Edel Meade & Eamonn Flynn

Just back from California after a 6-month Fulbright adventure, award-winning vocalist, composer and Tipperary woman, Edel Meade returns to Ireland to premiere her brand new project at the Clonmel Junction Arts Festival, bringing San Francisco-based piano player Eamonn Flynn with her.“We connected in San Francisco over Barry’s Tea and our passion for Ray Charles, Irish folklore, mythology and sean-nós singing.” Edel Meade

Originally from Dublin, Eamonn moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1997 following the phenomenal success of ‘The Commitments’ (he was the session keyboardist on the movie soundtrack!).

“We were both interested in developing a meaningful project exploring what it means to be Irish while embracing our backgrounds with soul music, gospel, jazz and blues. We’ll be performing music that’s usually unaccompanied and blurring the boundaries of genre with hints of jazz, blues and Impressionist French classical music.”“I’ll be debuting some new original songs too- it’s all music at the end of the day. Why put a name on it? "

"Astounding, riveting, brilliant" The Blue Of The Night, RTÉ LYRIC FM

"Meade's voice oozes sensuality", HOT PRESS

"What (they've) done here is extraordinary", IRISH ECHO

"An unlikely fusion that sounds so natural and obvious it makes you wonder where this music has been all this time." Ken Hughes, KEYBOARD MAGAZINE
