Liam Clancy
Liam Clancy
has been delighting audiences around the world as a performer for over half a century, since his debut as "The Playboy of the Western World" in the J.M. Singe classic in his home town of Carrick on Suir. As a singer he is best known for his years with the legendary Clancy Brothers, and Tommy Makem. Now settled in Rinn, Co Waterford he has put together an evening of storytelling, poetry and song which brims with the enthusiasm of a man who has seenÊ and enjoyed much in his travels and is determined to see and enjoy much more.
A born showman and teller of yarns, Liam recounts some of the highs and lows of his many voyages, mixing in classic songs from his extensive repertoire and a few choice poems that sparkle with wit and a canny observation of the changing times.
The show touches on the excitement of New York City in the 60's where Liam and his brothers crossed paths and performed with Bob Dylan, Barbara Streisand, Johnny Cash, Eric Clapton and Woody Allen to name but a few And he will share with you tales of the eventful voyages around the world he made singing songs of his home, where he would one day return to rear his family and enjoy an ever active retirement.
