Building on the success of the last year’s Cafés Carte Blanche project, Clonmel Junction Festival will once again take over several disused premises in the town centre and create seven themed interactive cafes.
This year, every café is offering a trainee scheme specifically aimed at young people, arts enthusiasts and people wishing to acquire experience in a special area of interest. Be it for work experience, to try out a new hobby or considering a career change, the trainee scheme is ideal for people with time on their hand and offers a unique opportunity to ‘shadow’ two experienced practitioners working in the convivial interactive atmosphere of the Cafés Carte Blanche. For more details and application form for the trainee scheme, check out the get involved page.

Professional practitioners in seven selected specialty areas are joining forces with local groups and individuals to curate a café each, staffed with young trainees interested in those areas. The aim is to engage as wide a range of participants as possible, from the beginner filmmaker to the advanced singer or amateur dancer, from the curious historian to the keen environmentalist or reluctant Irish speaker. All activities will be free, with donations sought for coffees and teas.
Each café will offer a range of activities, such as classes, open taster and advanced workshops, as well as presentation and talks to cater for the wide range of skills and interests in each art form or theme. This is an opportunity to interact with and participate in the Festival, while picking up new skills and ideas. Each café will contribute something towards the finale Charivari procession, which will take place on Saturday 10th July.
