Theatre - Irish Premiere

An anonymous economic migrant returns to his native village in Slovakia after years spent in America. The reality of the return, however, does not at all resemble his dreams. His place is already taken. His daughter does not recognise him, his wife avoids him, and former friends shun him. Though he returned, he can not really come back. He will always be an emigrant.

In this impressively staged production, haunting polyphonic and ritual songs from Slovakia and the Ukraine are fused with raw physical actions to tell the poignant story of a Slovak migrant.

One of the Czech Republic’s leading theatre companies, Farm in the Cave International Studio strives to physically and musically articulate stories of human fragility, fragments of cultural expression and the architecture of space.

2006 Edinburgh Fringe Festival Total Theatre Award, Fringe First Award, and a Herald Angel Award.
