| Second winds don’t come more forceful than this. Mary Black’s back, and she’s brought a shiny new repertoire with her.
Mary Black is one of Ireland’s best known and best loved performers. Having started out singing with The Black Family singers she went out on her own in 1987 and since then has released 11 solo CD’s, her most recent being Full Tide. This is a snapshot of a musician in her prime, the full swell of her years on the road propelling her to a place where she needs no trickery to take full possession of songs borrowed from the likes of Bob Dylan, Noel Brazil and Sandy Denny. In recent years Black has teamed up with her son Danny O’Reilly, writing songs which mine new depths and show promise of great things to come. |
