World Music Double Bill — Two great bands, one super group and a truly enriching Afro-European collaboration with a big heart and great rhythm.

Baka Beyond
Baka Beyond was founded in 1993 after British musicians Martin Cradick and Su Hart had visited the Baka tribal people of the Cameroon forests. So inspired were they by the magical rhythms and melodies of the Baka people, that on returning to the UK they recorded an album called “Spirit of the Forest” with a collection of UK-based musicians using the rhythms of the Baka. They called their group Baka Beyond.

Since then, the band has evolved into a multicultural, dynamic live stage show with album sales of over a quarter of a million copies and their sixth album, “Rhythm Tree” released in March last year.

Baka Gibne
Over the years Martin and Su have continued to visit the Baka and this relationship has encouraged the Baka to set up their own group and leave the rainforest to share their music with the world. That group is Baka Gibne which will be performing in Ireland for the first time.
