ARTIST IN RESIDENCE
Katie Hanlan is a knitted textiles designer based in Dublin, whose work focuses on challenging the initial perceptions of traditional hand techniques by applying them in new and innovative ways.
After 10 years as senior knitwear designer for John Rocha, creating knitwear ranges and bespoke show pieces for catwalk and press, she set up her own design practice specialising in fabric and yarn development, and contemporary fashion textiles design.
Through developing and creating bespoke knitwear pieces for exhibition in Shanghai, Paris and New York, her work now includes installation and textiles art pieces, which use the tactile and sculptural forms found in hand knit and crochet techniques.
