Cafés Carte Blanche

The Cafés

Since 2009, Clonmel Junction Festival has taken over several disused premises in the town centre and created themed interactive cafes. This year, again, we will offer a novel selection of interactive cafes where members of the public can observe, discuss, engage and participate in a number of arts practices.

In 2010, Clonmel Junction festival introduced a trainee scheme specifically aimed at young people, arts enthusiasts, students and people wishing to acquire experience in a special area of interest. The scheme is running again and offers opportunities to have a first hand experience of working with a professional artist within the convivial interactive atmosphere of a café. This scheme is ideally suited for people seeking work experience, or wishing to try out a new area of interest or  are considering a career change.

CCB III: Soul Salons

Once again, professional practitioners in six selected areas joined forces with local groups and individuals to curate a café each, staffed with selected trainees interested in those areas. They engaged with wide a range of participants, from the beginner dancer to the advanced sound engineer or amateur environmentalist, from the curious arts enthusiast to the keen sci-fi geek. All activities were free, with donations sought for coffees and teas.

Check out the individual café pages for details of the activies, pictures and videos of what happened during Clonmel Junction Festival 2011.
